El veredicto
¿Vale la pena para su luna de miel?
La Marina di Manarola is the sea-view boutique base in Manarola — a 12-room three-star occupying a converted fisherman's house directly above the small marina, in the most photogenic of the five villages for the iconic sunset shot (the technicolor cubes of houses cascading down to the rocky harbour with the open Ligurian Sea filling the frame is the single most-Instagrammed image of Cinque Terre). Manarola has no real beach but a beloved swimming platform off the rocks beside the harbour, and the village itself is car-free and contained enough to walk end-to-end in eight minutes. La Marina was renovated in 2018 with a cleaner contemporary touch than the older Cinque Terre family hotels — white walls, pale wood, contemporary art, but preserving the original stone arches and beamed ceilings of the 18th-century house. Eight of the twelve rooms have direct sea views; four open onto small French balconies that frame the harbour. The hotel has a small wine cellar pouring Cinque Terre DOC, Sciacchetrà, and Ligurian Vermentino, but no restaurant beyond breakfast — couples eat at Nessun Dorma, Trattoria dal Billy, and Marina Piccola in the village. For honeymoon couples whose Cinque Terre dream is centered on the Manarola sunset photo and the in-village immersion of staying in the smallest most romantic of the five towns, La Marina is the right address — quieter and more design-forward than the Monterosso options, more accessible than La Mala in Vernazza.

The Superior Sea-View rooms on floors 2-3 facing the marina are the honeymoon rooms — the harbour panorama from the bed, the Ligurian Sea beyond, the technicolor village in the foreground. Room 5 and Room 8 are the two with the most generous French balconies. The single Junior Suite (room 12) on the top floor has the largest footprint and a small private terrace at $550-620 per night in shoulder. Avoid the courtyard-view rooms — without the marina view there is no reason to stay here.

Día a día
Su itinerario de luna de miel de 7 noches
Arrival in Manarola
Train to Manarola (the station is at the top of the village; a short walk down the main street brings you to the marina and La Marina di Manarola). Settle in, walk down to the harbour, swim from the rock platform, sunset Aperol on the room balcony as the village lights come on. Dinner at Nessun Dorma three minutes' walk away — the bruschetta and aperitivo platter with the harbour view is the canonical Manarola first evening.
Manarola & Sentiero dei Frati
Morning swim from the marina rock platform. Espresso at Bar dell'Amore. Late morning walk up the Sentiero dei Frati to the Punta Bonfiglio viewpoint and the small cemetery (the photo location for the blue-hour Manarola panorama). Lunch at Trattoria dal Billy on the harbour. Afternoon wine bar at La Marina with a Cinque Terre DOC, blue-hour photos from Punta Bonfiglio.
Riomaggiore & Via dell'Amore
Walk or train to Riomaggiore (the southernmost village, 3 minutes by train). When sections of the Via dell'Amore are open, walk back to Manarola along the cliffside lovers' path. Lunch at A Pie' de Ma in Riomaggiore directly over the sea. Afternoon swim back in Manarola, aperitivo at Nessun Dorma.
Corniglia & Vernazza
Train north to Corniglia (5 minutes) — the hilltop village, lunch at Osteria a Cantina de Mananan. Continue to Vernazza (4 minutes) for the harbour walk, the Doria castle photo, and aperitivo at Belforte. Return train to Manarola for dinner at Marina Piccola.
Monterosso & Sentiero Azzurro
Train to Monterosso (the largest and only one with a real beach). Walk the most spectacular section of the Blue Trail — Monterosso to Vernazza, 90 minutes through olive and lemon terraces with the sea 200m below. Cinque Terre Card required. Lunch in Vernazza, train back to Manarola. Wine cellar tasting at La Marina in the evening.
Sciacchetrà & Pesto Day
Sciacchetrà tasting at Cheo or Possa in the terraced vineyards above Manarola (by appointment, $50-80 per couple). The vineyards on Manarola's terraces are some of the most vertical agriculture in Europe — the monorail train climbing the cliff is part of the experience. Afternoon pesto-making class with Nessun Dorma (Liguria is the birthplace of pesto). Final dinner at Trattoria dal Billy.
Last Sunset & Departure
Final morning swim from the marina platform, breakfast on the terrace, walk up to the station, train via La Spezia back to Pisa or Milan. The Manarola sunset photo is the one image most couples carry home from Cinque Terre.
Evaluación honesta
Lo que debe saber antes de reservar
Manarola has no beach — the swimming is from a rock platform off the harbour; couples wanting beach should base in Monterosso instead.
The walk down from the train station to the hotel involves moderate slopes and steps; luggage roll is manageable but not effortless.
No restaurant beyond breakfast and wine cellar — all dinners are out in the village; this is a base, not a destination.
Closed November through March; April and October shoulders have reduced village restaurant hours.

FAQ
Preguntas frecuentes
Good for honeymooners?
La Marina di Manarola is among the best honeymoon hotels in the five villages — the cleaner 2018 renovation, the small scale, the direct harbour view, and the Manarola sunset location make this a strong choice for couples who want the most photogenic of the villages as a base.
Best time to visit?
May-June and September-October. Avoid July-August (heat and overwhelming crowds in tiny Manarola) and November-March (closed).
Book in advance?
Sea-view rooms and the Junior Suite (room 12) book 4-6 months ahead for shoulder season. The Junior Suite books 9-12 months ahead for May, June, September. Honeymoon packages include welcome Sciacchetrà tasting and breakfast upgrade.
Adults-only?
No — La Marina welcomes all guests but the small-scale boutique format means couples dominate, especially in shoulder season.
Best room type?
The Junior Suite (room 12) with private terrace if available; otherwise a Superior Sea-View on floor 2 or 3 (room 5 or 8). Skip courtyard rooms entirely.
How to get there?
Train to Manarola via La Spezia from Pisa (1.5h) or Milan (3h). Short downhill walk from the station to the hotel.
