El veredicto

¿Vale la pena para su luna de miel?

True Blue Bay Boutique Resort is the eco-luxury value choice on Grenada's south coast — a 75-room family-run boutique on the small True Blue Bay cove, operated by the Fielden family for over 25 years and consistently recognised for its sustainability credentials (Green Globe certification, Caribbean Hotel of the Year for Sustainability multiple years). The architecture is brightly painted Caribbean-tropical — yellow, blue, pink villas arranged around the cove with mature gardens, organic vegetable beds that supply the kitchen, and direct cove access from the lower-tier rooms. The property is not on Grand Anse — it occupies its own small bay 10 minutes east, which means quieter sand but a much smaller beach than Grand Anse. The differentiators are the Indigo Yoga programme (a permanent yoga deck overlooking the bay with daily classes included), Dodgy Dock restaurant (genuinely one of Grenada's best casual restaurants, on a dock over the water), and the True Blue rum distillery tasting on-property. Rates run at half what Calabash and Spice Island charge for comparable suite categories. Couples wanting ultra-luxury polish should book elsewhere; couples wanting eco-credentials, character, value, and the south-coast quiet of True Blue Bay will find this the right Grenada answer.

The True Blue Bay Pool Cottages — freestanding cottages with private plunge pools and direct cove access — are the honeymoon-sized configurations, typically running $600-700 per night versus the $350-450 of standard rooms. The True Blue Suite (a single corner-positioned suite at the upper end of the property) has the most expansive cove view from a private wraparound balcony, no pool but two-storey ceiling height. For couples wanting genuine value with an ocean view, the standard Sea View rooms in the upper villas are well-rated and run at the lower end of the price band.

Día a día

Su itinerario de luna de miel de 7 noches

1

Arrival at True Blue Bay

Direct from JFK or MIA to Maurice Bishop International (GND) in 4 hours, then a 10-minute transfer east along the south coast to True Blue Bay. The Fielden family welcomes arrivals on the dock with a chilled rum punch from the property's own True Blue distillery. First dinner at Dodgy Dock, the resort's restaurant on stilts over the water — the seafood ceviche and grilled mahi are the signatures.

2

Yoga, Cove & Spa

Morning yoga at the Indigo Yoga deck overlooking the bay (included in the rate, daily classes from 7am). Cove swimming from the small property beach, complimentary kayaks for the cove circuit. Lunch at Dodgy Dock, afternoon at the small spa for a 60-minute massage with Grenadian nutmeg oil, sunset cocktails on the dock.

3

Belmont Estate Cocoa Tour

True Blue arranges a driver for the 90-minute drive north to Belmont Estate — the 400-year-old cocoa and spice plantation. Full cocoa-to-bar tour, lunch on the estate verandah (oildown, callaloo, fresh juices), return via Annandale Falls. The True Blue concierge also recommends adding the River Antoine Estate rum distillery (older than Belmont and a working water-wheel distillery) on the same day.

4

Underwater Sculpture Park & Grand Anse

Drive 15 minutes west to Grand Anse to board the boat for Molinere Bay's Underwater Sculpture Park — Jason deCaires Taylor's installations in clear 3-8m water. Three-hour trip with stops at Dragon Bay and Flamingo Bay reefs. Lunch at Grand Anse, walk the full two-mile crescent of Grenada's most famous beach, return to True Blue for sunset cocktails.

5

Annandale Falls & Grand Etang

Inland day to the volcanic interior — Annandale Falls (10-metre cascade) and Grand Etang National Park (the crater lake at the island's centre with rainforest trails). Mona monkeys come down to the trail at feeding time. Lunch at the Grand Etang lookout, return via the St George's spice market for nutmeg, mace, and cinnamon to take home.

6

Catamaran Day or Carriacou

Concierge-arranged catamaran day from Grand Anse — typically north to Carriacou (Grenada's quiet sister island, 45 minutes by fast catamaran) or to the Tobago Cays for the best snorkel in the southern Caribbean. Lunch on board with grilled lobster and rum punches, return to True Blue by 5pm for the property's signature sunset rum tasting at the on-site True Blue distillery.

7

Yoga & Departure

Final morning yoga at the Indigo Yoga deck, breakfast on the suite terrace, and the 10-minute transfer to Maurice Bishop International. The Fielden family typically packs a True Blue rum miniature and a small spice gift for honeymoon departures. Most US flights depart in the afternoon.

Evaluación honesta

Lo que debe saber antes de reservar

!

True Blue Bay is a small cove — couples wanting a long beach should plan day trips to Grand Anse (15 minutes west).

!

Property is family-run boutique, not ultra-luxury — service is warm and personal but no butler service or 24-hour concierge.

!

Spa is small compared to Silversands or Spice Island; couples wanting elaborate spa programming should book elsewhere.

!

Hurricane risk July-October; the resort closes for renovation in September each year.

!

Family-friendly atmosphere means honeymoon density is lower than at Calabash or Sandals — quieter but more mixed crowd.

FAQ

Preguntas frecuentes

Good for honeymooners?

True Blue Bay is well-suited to honeymoon couples who prioritise value, eco-credentials, character, and the south-coast quiet over ultra-luxury polish. The Pool Cottages with private plunge pools deliver an excellent honeymoon experience at half the Calabash rate. The Fielden family attention is the differentiator: every guest is known by name.

Best time to visit?

December through May is the ideal dry-season window. March and April are the most stable months. May and early June offer excellent shoulder value. November is the re-opening month with quieter rates. The yoga programme runs year-round but the most-attended classes are in the dry-season morning conditions.

Book in advance?

Pool Cottages book 2-3 months ahead for high season; standard Sea View rooms have more flexibility. Christmas, Valentine's, and Easter sell out 4-6 months ahead. The property frequently offers a fourth-night-free promotion in shoulder windows and yoga-retreat package rates that bundle daily yoga and one spa treatment.

Adults-only?

True Blue Bay accepts families and the property has more children than the dedicated honeymoon resorts — couples wanting a strictly adult environment should book Sandals Grenada or Calabash. That said, the eco-yoga atmosphere skews older and quieter, and honeymoon couples are well-accommodated with discrete romance setups in the Pool Cottages.

Best room type?

Pool Cottages with private plunge pools and direct cove access are the honeymoon-sized configurations at $600-700 per night. The True Blue Suite has the broadest cove view from a wraparound balcony. For genuine value with an ocean view, the standard Sea View rooms in the upper villas are well-rated and at the lower end of the price band.

How to get there?

Maurice Bishop International (GND) is 10 minutes from True Blue Bay. Direct service operates from JFK (American, JetBlue), Miami (American), and London Gatwick (British Airways). European travellers without a direct usually connect via St Lucia (SLU) or Barbados (BGI). The Fielden family arranges transfers, included in honeymoon packages.
