Le verdict

Cela vaut-il le coup pour votre voyage de noces ?

Cristallo, A Luxury Collection Resort & Spa is the most prestigious historic address in Cortina d'Ampezzo — a 1901 grande-dame palace sitting on a hill above the Olympic town, with the Cristallo and Tofane peaks framing the property and one of the largest spas in the Dolomites (1,300 sq m across two levels). The hotel was the location for For Your Eyes Only (Bond, 1981) and has hosted, since its founding, a procession of royalty, mid-century film stars, and the historic Italian skiing aristocracy. The 2017 acquisition by Marriott's Luxury Collection brought a careful renovation that respected the Belle Époque bones — the cream-and-gold dining rooms, the wood-clad bar, the lobby with its original 1901 staircase — while adding the contemporary infrastructure (the heated outdoor pool, the contemporary suites, the upgraded spa with a Finnish sauna, biosauna, and panoramic relaxation room). For honeymooners in Cortina, this is the move when you want the historic-glamour version of Dolomites luxury — fur coats in winter, vintage Bond aesthetic, and the sense that you're staying somewhere that the post-war Italian elite chose. The 74 rooms split into the historic main building (the smaller, charming heritage rooms with the Cortina-village view) and the newer wing (the larger Junior Suites and the top-floor Penthouse Suite with the Tofane panorama). The honeymoon picks: the Junior Suite Mountain View (485 sq ft) in the new wing for the panoramic view at value, or the Penthouse Suite (1,184 sq ft) with the rooftop terrace for the destination splurge. Dining: La Veranda is the principal restaurant (modern Alpine, Michelin-influenced under the long-tenured chef), the Stube 1872 is the heritage wood-clad fine-dining room, and the Pool Bar does the most pleasant lunches in town. The 1,300 sq m spa is the property's strongest card — bigger than Rosa Alpina's, with the heated outdoor pool framing the Tofane peak as the signature shot. Hiking-wise, the location is excellent: Lago di Braies (45 min), Tre Cime (1h), the Cinque Torri (35 min), and the Cortina town centre (10 min by hotel shuttle). For honeymoons, the Cristallo move is best when paired with 2 nights at Forestis or Rosa Alpina for the contrast — and most-loved by couples who want the Cortina village glamour rather than the Alta Badia trail-head feel. Caveats: the hotel is large (74 rooms) and can feel less intimate than the smaller properties at peak weeks; the renovation has modernised some of the Belle Époque patina; and the Cortina village location, while excellent for nightlife and dining, is a 10-minute hotel shuttle ride down from the property — not walkable. But the Cristallo at sunset, with the Tofane glowing pink across the heated outdoor pool, is one of the great mountain hotel images.

Quelle chambre réserver

Sélection d'expert
à partir de la fourchette $620–$5,500/nuit

The Junior Suite Mountain View (485 sq ft) in the newer wing is the sweet spot — the Tofane panorama, the contemporary alpine design, the spacious bath. For the splurge, the Penthouse Suite (1,184 sq ft) on the top floor with the rooftop terrace. The smaller heritage rooms in the historic main building are charming but face the Cortina village (not the peaks) — choose only if the heritage feel is the priority.

FAQ

Questions fréquentes

Good for honeymooners?

Strong for the Cortina-glamour honeymoon — historic atmosphere, large spa, heated outdoor pool, Bond-film heritage. Less intimate than Rosa Alpina but stronger village-character access.

Best time to visit?

July–September for summer hiking. December–March for ski (Cortina was the 2026 Winter Olympics co-host). AVOID April–May and October–November.

Book in advance?

Junior Suites 3–4 months out for high season. Penthouse Suite 6+ months. Christmas–New Year and Carnevale book a year in advance.

Adults-only?

No — family-welcoming, especially during Italian school holidays (Ferragosto, Christmas, Easter). Quieter in June and September.

Best room type?

Junior Suite Mountain View in the new wing for the Tofane panorama. Penthouse Suite for the rooftop-terrace splurge. Avoid the village-facing heritage rooms unless the historic feel is the priority.

How to get there?

Venice Marco Polo (VCE) is 2h by car (closest international airport). Innsbruck (INN) is 2h30. The hotel arranges Mercedes E-Class transfers from VCE (€380) or INN (€450).
