Le verdict
Cela vaut-il le coup pour votre voyage de noces ?
Don Totu Dimora Storica is the tiny, design-conscious dimora storica that has become the honeymoon-bookend choice for couples ending a Puglian masseria week with two or three nights of Salento city — an 8-room (yes, eight) 19th-century private palazzo in the small town of San Cassiano in the deep Salento, 35 km south of Lecce, restored by the Greco family with a deeply considered hand. The property was originally the home of Don Antonio “Totu” Greco, a local notary and book collector; the public rooms still contain his original library and family portraits, and each of the eight guest rooms is named for a Greco family ancestor and individually decorated with restored period antiques. The aesthetic is the opposite of resort-luxury — it is the lived-in, antique-strewn, slightly-faded grandeur of a real southern Italian palazzo, with the modern touches (high-thread linen, restored frescoes, a small plunge pool in the garden, a tiny rooftop terrace with a view across the Salento olive plain) layered in with restraint. There is no full restaurant — breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace and aperitivo in the garden each evening, with the family directing guests to their favourite trattorias in the surrounding Salento towns (the chef-Michelin Don Ciccio in Tricase, the seafood La Lanterna Verde in Otranto, and the Bros’ tasting menu in Lecce all 20–40 minutes away). The honeymoon move is the Suite Maddalena — the largest suite, with the only private terrace facing the rooftop, original 19th-century frescoed ceiling, and a freestanding stone bath. The defining moment: aperitivo in the lemon-tree garden at 7pm with the Greco family bringing out home-cured taralli and a glass of local Negroamaro, before walking the five minutes to the village trattoria for dinner. Caveats: this is not a luxury property by any conventional definition — 8 rooms, no spa, no full restaurant, no concierge desk, plunge pool not a real swimming pool, and the location in San Cassiano (a small inland Salento town) is rural-Italian rather than glamorous; the immediate town outside has none of the polish of Ostuni or Lecce. But for honeymooners ending a Puglian masseria week with two or three nights of intimate Salento-village living, Don Totu is the cult choice.

Recommandation de chambre
Quelle chambre réserver
Suite Maddalena — the largest, with private rooftop terrace, frescoed ceiling, and freestanding stone bath. For something smaller, Camera Antonia with the antique four-poster. Avoid the courtyard-facing ground-floor rooms — lovely but darker and without the rooftop view.

Évaluation honnête
Ce qu'il faut savoir avant de réserver
Not a luxury property in the conventional sense — 8 rooms, no spa, no full restaurant, plunge pool only.
San Cassiano is a small rural Salento town — not Ostuni-glamorous outside the palazzo walls.
Requires a hire car. The location is rural and there are no on-site dining options beyond breakfast/aperitivo.
