The hotel reopened in 2019 after a complete two-year, $300-million restoration that essentially rebuilt the interiors from the ground up under Italian architect Pierre-Yves Rochon — the result is contemporary Venetian rather than historicist, with terrazzo floors, modern Murano glasswork commissioned for the property, original 18th-century palazzo ceilings preserved overhead, and a coherent design language that feels closer to a great Milanese hotel than to the maximalist Gritti or the museum-grade Aman.
