Villa Cortine Palace is the most spectacularly located luxury hotel on Lake Garda — a neoclassical 19th-century palazzo built in 1870 for a Viennese count, set in 22 acres of formal Italian gardens at the very tip of the Sirmione peninsula, surrounded on three sides by Lake Garda and approached through a guarded private entrance that excludes day-trippers from Sirmione’s tourist crowds. The villa itself is a stage-set: classical statuary lining the gardens, an entrance staircase modelled on Tuscan Renaissance palaces, and the most photographed lakeside infinity pool in the region — built into the headland with the water appearing to extend directly into the lake.
