O veredicto

Vale a pena para sua lua de mel?

Borgo Egnazia is the most ambitious — and now the most famous — luxury hotel in southern Italy. Opened in 2010 on a 250-acre site on the Adriatic coast between Bari and Brindisi, it was conceived by the Melpignano family (who also own Masseria San Domenico next door) as a reimagined ancient Pugliese village, built from local tufa stone in the white-washed Itria Valley vernacular by Italian architect Pino Brescia. It is enormous by masseria standards — three accommodation areas (La Corte, the village proper with 92 suites; Il Borgo, 31 town-house suites with private gardens; Le Ville, 29 free-standing private villas with pools) totalling 184 keys across olive groves, vineyards, an 18-hole San Domenico golf course, a beach club on the Adriatic two kilometres away (with private shuttle), and the Vair Spa — at 1,700 sqm one of the largest wellness facilities in Italy, including thalassotherapy, a Roman bath, a hammam, and 14 treatment rooms. The food operation is exceptional — Due Camini holds one Michelin star (chef Domingo Schingaro), and three further restaurants (Trattoria Mia, La Frasca, Da Puccetta beach club) cover regional Pugliese cooking, Italian classics, and seafood respectively. The hotel acquired international fame in 2022–2024 as the wedding venue for Brooklyn Beckham, the destination wedding of choice for Hollywood celebrities, and the long-standing favourite of Justin Timberlake (who recorded much of his 2018 album here). The honeymoon move is one of Le Ville — a private free-standing villa with your own pool, garden, and the rest of the resort’s amenities at your beck and call. For something more central, the Casetta in Il Borgo with its private courtyard garden is the sweet spot. The defining moment: Pizzica dancing in La Corte square at 10pm with the staff and other guests, the Pugliese folk music live, and a Negroni in hand. Caveats: at 184 keys this is a full resort, not an intimate masseria — Masseria Le Carrube or Don Totu are the answer if you want small-scale; the August crowd is dense and family-heavy; and prices are now the highest in Puglia by some distance. But for honeymooners who want maximum amenity in a single property and the celebrity glow without the urban hassle, Borgo Egnazia is unmatched.

Le Ville (the free-standing private villas) are the honeymoon pinnacle — your own pool, garden, full villa privacy, with the resort amenities a 3-minute walk away. For something more central and connected to the village buzz, a Casetta in Il Borgo (with private courtyard garden and outdoor shower). Avoid the standard Corte rooms in the main village — lovely but you miss the seclusion that is the entire honeymoon point.

Avaliação honesta

O que saber antes de reservar

!

184 keys — this is a full resort, not an intimate masseria. Choose Masseria Le Carrube for small-scale instead.

!

August is dense, family-heavy, and 35–38°C. Travel in May, June or September.

!

Beach is a 2km shuttle away — not directly on-site like Masseria San Domenico.

Dear Borgo Egnazia reservations,

We would like to book 5 to 7 nights for our honeymoon [DATES] in one of Le Ville (private villa with pool) if available, or a Casetta in Il Borgo.

Questions:
1. Honeymoon turndown (champagne, in-villa flowers)?
2. Confirmed dinner reservations at Due Camini?
3. Vair Spa couples treatment booking?
4. Cooking class with a Nonna for orecchiette?
5. Chauffeur transfer from Brindisi airport?

FAQ

Perguntas frequentes

Good for honeymooners?

Among the top Puglian honeymoons — the villa privacy, Vair spa, Due Camini Michelin and Pizzica nightlife combine into a full luxury experience.

Best time to visit?

May, June and September are ideal — warm but not oppressive, manageable crowds, full operations. Avoid August (Italian holiday crush). Closed late November to late March.

Book in advance?

Le Ville and the best Casette book 9–12 months out for May–September. Standard Corte rooms 6 months. August fully booked by January.

Adults-only?

No — Borgo Egnazia has an excellent kids’ club and is openly family-friendly. Expect families in school holidays. Le Ville are the answer for honeymoon privacy.

Best room type?

Le Ville (private villa with pool) for honeymooners with budget. Casetta in Il Borgo for the sweet spot. Avoid standard Corte rooms.

How to get there?

Brindisi (BDS) is 30 minutes by car. Bari (BRI) 60 minutes. Hire car at airport, or hotel chauffeur €150 from BDS.
