The interiors are pure 1920s grand-hotel — a circular grand salon under a painted dome, a curving marble staircase, vast dining rooms with frescoed ceilings, and 65 rooms in the main château plus a converted hunting lodge (Le Pavillon) and chapel annex in the park. The pool, spa, indoor pool, and tennis courts are excellent for a property this size. What you get at Artigny is the architectural ambition of a major château at the price point of a regional Relais — half the cost of equivalent ultra-luxury rooms at Provence properties, with arguably more impressive built fabric. The trade-off is that Artigny is a Grandes Étapes property rather than a Relais & Châteaux, which means the food, while good, is not at Michelin tasting-menu level (the restaurant is fine traditional French; do not expect Donckele or Roellinger).
