The Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc is the single most legendary address on the French Riviera — and one of the most legendary hotels on earth. Built in 1870 as the Villa Soleil on the tip of the Cap d'Antibes peninsula, it became the favoured haunt of the Fitzgerald-Hemingway set in the 1920s, the unofficial annex of the Cannes Film Festival from the 1950s onward, and the address that defined French Riviera glamour through a century. Today it operates as a 117-room independent palace hotel — the main belle époque pavilion sitting above the pines, the Eden-Roc pavilion 200m down a path on its own headland with the iconic saltwater pool blasted directly into the cliff. The 22 acres of pine-shaded grounds, the 33 private cabanas overhanging the sea, the seawater-pool diving boards immortalised by Slim Aarons — this is the visual grammar of the Côte d'Azur. The hotel famously accepted only cash payment at checkout until 2007 (it now takes cards but the legend persists). The Eden-Roc Restaurant terrace at sunset is among the most photographed dinner settings in Europe; the Bellini Bar invented the Riviera version of the Venetian aperitif and serves it from 11am onward as the cinematic right of arrival. What you pay for at the Cap is the address itself — the lineage, the cabanas, the cinematic completeness. Service is excellent but not warmer than Cap-Ferrat next door; food is excellent but not better than Le Cap or Louis XV. The point is that you stay at Eden-Roc because it is Eden-Roc, and there is nothing else like it.

The Junior Suites in the main pavilion with private balcony and full sea view are the canonical honeymoon room — generous square footage, the historic palace feel, a pool view across the pines to the Mediterranean. For maximum impact, the Eden-Roc pavilion Junior Suites (rooms 100-130) are in the lower building directly above the seawater pool — closer to the water but less classic in feel. The Bellini Suite on the top floor of the main pavilion is the celebrity-press suite with a 270° terrace. Private cabanas on the rocks are rented separately and are essential for the Eden-Roc day experience.

Cabana Day on the Rocks
Book a private cabana on the Eden-Roc rocks for the full day. Hours of swimming, sunbathing, light lunches from the pool kitchen, the cinematic procession of beautiful guests, and the diving boards. The single most iconic day in the Hôtel du Cap repertoire.
Antibes Old Town and Picasso
Walk 25 minutes (or hotel car) into the Antibes old town for the morning — the ramparts, the Marché Provençal, the Picasso Museum in the Château Grimaldi where Picasso lived in 1946. Lunch at Le Bacon, the seafood restaurant on the Cap d'Antibes shore. Afternoon by the pool.

The hotel is closed mid-October to mid-April — Cap d'Antibes outside the warm-water season has limited reason to visit. May, June, September, and the first half of October are the windows.
Private cabanas are charged separately and run €500-1,500 per day depending on position. The price is per cabana, not per guest. Bookable through your concierge but not guaranteed in peak season — request at the time of room reservation.
Eden-Roc draws the wealthiest clientele on the Riviera, which means a low-key but unmissable formality at all times — no shorts at dinner, no flip-flops at the Bellini Bar, jacket for the man in the evening.

Good for honeymooners?

Best time to visit?
