Masseria Torre Coccaro

Le verdict

Cela vaut-il le coup pour votre voyage de noces ?

Masseria Torre Coccaro is a 16th-century fortified farmhouse near Savelletri, on the Adriatic coast in the heart of Puglia's Itria Valley — converted by the Muolo family into a 39-room luxury masseria that retains its working agricultural soul. Whitewashed stone walls, vaulted ceilings, an underground spa carved from a 17th-century cistern, and a private beach club a five-minute shuttle away on the Adriatic. The Coccaro Beach Club has direct access to clear, blue water; the Aromatherapy Associates spa is one of the most atmospheric in Italy. For honeymooners drawn to Puglia's whitewashed charm — Alberobello's trulli, Ostuni's white city, Lecce's baroque — this is the most romantic base on the coast.

Idéal pour les couples qui…

À éviter si vous…

Sélection d'expert
à partir de la fourchette $600–$2,800/nuit

The Masseria Suites in the original 16th-century farmhouse have the strongest sense of historic character — vaulted stone ceilings, thick whitewashed walls, and small private terraces. The Trullo Suite is a private converted trullo cone-house on the property, the most coveted booking. For a milestone, the Garden Suites have private gardens with outdoor whirlpools. Avoid the entry-level rooms in the modern wing; the historic masseria rooms are where Puglia's atmosphere lives.

Jour par jour

Itinéraire de 7 nuits pour votre voyage de noces

1

Arrival at the Masseria

Fly to Bari or Brindisi (both 45 minutes by car). Arrive at Torre Coccaro in the late afternoon, prosecco welcome in the courtyard. Settle into the suite, walk through the olive groves, then dinner at Ristorante Coccaro with the masseria's own olive oil and produce.

2

Beach Club & Spa

Morning shuttle to the Coccaro Beach Club on the Adriatic — sun loungers on the rocky platform, swims in the clear blue water. Lunch at the beach club restaurant for fresh fish. Afternoon at the underground spa carved from a 17th-century cistern — Aromatherapy Associates couples treatment.

3

Alberobello & the Trulli

A 30-minute drive into the Itria Valley to Alberobello — the UNESCO town of conical trullo stone houses. Walk the Rione Monti and Rione Aja Piccola, lunch at Trullo d'Oro. Afternoon visit to nearby Locorotondo, the white circular hilltown. Return for sunset apero at the masseria.

4

Ostuni & the White City

Drive to Ostuni — the legendary 'Citta Bianca' of whitewashed houses cascading down a hilltop. Lunch at Osteria del Tempo Perso, an afternoon walking the medieval lanes. Dinner back at the masseria's main restaurant or at the more casual Aia.

5

Lecce & the Baroque

A longer day-trip 90 minutes south to Lecce — the 'Florence of the South,' famous for its extravagant baroque architecture in pale local limestone. Tour Piazza Sant'Oronzo, the Roman amphitheatre, the Basilica di Santa Croce. Lunch at La Torre di Merlino. Late return to the masseria.

6

Cooking Class & Olive Oil

Morning Pugliese cooking class with the masseria chef — orecchiette pasta, focaccia barese, and the local burrata. Lunch is what you cook. Afternoon olive oil tasting in the masseria's own frantoio (oil press). Final dinner at Ristorante Coccaro.

7

Final Morning & Departure

Breakfast on the suite terrace, a final swim at the beach club, then late checkout. Transfer to Bari or Brindisi airport for the international flight home.

Évaluation honnête

Ce qu'il faut savoir avant de réserver

!

The masseria is not directly on the beach — the Coccaro Beach Club is a 5-minute shuttle away. Couples expecting beachfront accommodation should choose differently.

!

The Adriatic beach access is rocky platform with ladders, not soft sand — beautiful but not for everyone.

!

Puglia roads are scenic but a car is essential; transfers between hilltowns can be longer than the map suggests.

!

The Itria Valley is hot in July-August; the masseria does not always feel as luxurious as the Caruso/Passalacqua tier — pricing reflects this and Puglia is genuinely better value than the Amalfi or Lake Como.

FAQ

Questions fréquentes

Good for honeymooners?

Torre Coccaro is one of the most romantic Pugliese masserias — historic 16th-century atmosphere, an underground cave spa, the private beach club, and a base from which to explore the trulli, white towns, and Lecce. It is excellent value compared to the Amalfi or Lake Como hotels at the same level of charm.

Best time to visit?

Late May through June and September into early October are ideal for Puglia — warm Adriatic sea, the olive groves at peak, and manageable temperatures. July and August are very hot and crowded. The masseria closes briefly in winter (typically January-February).

Book in advance?

The masseria has 39 rooms — book 3 to 5 months ahead for peak season (June, July, September). The Trullo Suite and the historic Masseria Suites with vaulted ceilings book first. The Garden Suites with outdoor whirlpools are popular with honeymooners.

Adults-only?

Torre Coccaro is not adults-only and accepts families, but the historic masseria character and the cave spa atmosphere skew the guest mix toward couples and adults. Family presence is moderate, particularly in summer holidays.

Best room type?

Masseria Suites in the historic 16th-century building for vaulted stone ceilings and authentic atmosphere. The Trullo Suite is the most romantic and unique booking — a private converted trullo cone-house. Garden Suites for honeymooners wanting outdoor whirlpools. Avoid modern-wing entry rooms.

How to get there?

Bari airport (45 minutes by car north) or Brindisi airport (45 minutes south) are both viable. The masseria arranges private transfers from either. A rental car is helpful for the week — Alberobello, Ostuni, Lecce, and the Itria Valley hilltowns are all best explored by car.
