The restaurant downstairs has held a chef-hatted reputation for nearly two decades. The location is perfect — 5-min walk from central Launceston, 10-min drive from the Tamar Valley wineries, 20-min drive from Launceston airport, 2h from Cradle Mountain. Caveats: 7 suites means availability is genuinely tight. No spa, no pool. The mill location is wonderful at night but the active Tamar River works during the day mean occasional noise. For honeymooners who want a small, design-driven base for the Tamar Valley wine region and as a Cradle Mountain pre/post stay, this is the most distinctive choice in Launceston.
