Te Tiare Beach Resort is the choice for couples who want French Polynesia before it became Instagram's honeymoon backdrop — Huahine is the 'Garden of Eden' island, lush and green, largely agricultural, with a fraction of the tourism of Bora Bora or Moorea. The resort is boat-access only (10 minutes from Fare, the main town), which instantly sets the tone: you arrive by private launch and the outside world disappears. 41 overwater and beach bungalows spread along a long, quiet white-sand beach, a small infinity pool, a modest spa, and a dining room overlooking the lagoon. Bungalows are authentic Polynesian thatched construction, recently refreshed inside, with private decks, outdoor showers and direct lagoon access. Snorkeling off the overwater bungalows is among the best in French Polynesia — healthy coral, rays, reef fish, zero crowds. Service is personal, warm, genuinely Polynesian rather than international-hotel-trained. This is the anti-Bora-Bora honeymoon: quieter, greener, more local, roughly half the price, and absolutely zero tour-bus energy. Best used as a 3-4 night add-on to a Bora Bora stay, or a 7-night solo stay for couples who want true escape.
