The Verdict

Worth it for your honeymoon?

Hotel de Len is the most architecturally interesting new hotel in Cortina — a 24-room eco-design boutique that opened in 2022 in a contemporary larch-wood-clad building on Corso Italia, the pedestrianised main street of the village, with a 6th-floor rooftop restaurant that frames the Tofane and Sorapis peaks across an open-air bar. The name means "of wood" in Ladin, and the entire architectural concept is a celebration of South Tyrolean larch — local-sourced, the structural larch beams visible in every room, the larch-tiled spa, the larch-clad bar — with concrete, glass, and pale stone as accents. The architect Flaviano Capriotti has produced something that the Dolomites had been missing: a properly contemporary 4-star Superior boutique that competes on design rather than chasing the Cristallo's heritage glamour. For honeymooners, the value proposition is sharp: at €490–€800/night, this is the most design-led Cortina hotel at a sub-Cristallo price, and the 24-room scale means real intimacy. The accommodations split into Classic, Deluxe, and Junior Suite categories — all with the larch-and-stone palette, every one with a Cortina village or mountain view. The signature space is the 6th-floor SanBrite restaurant — chef Riccardo Gaspari's evolution of his original SanBrite farm-restaurant (1-Michelin-starred) above Cortina — with the wraparound roof terrace for sunset cocktails. The spa is small (3 treatment rooms, a Finnish sauna, a Turkish steam, no pool) — this is a boutique, not a destination spa property. The honeymoon move: a Deluxe Room (the larger category) with the Cortina village + Tofane view, or a Junior Suite for the larger space. The location is the property's defining advantage: directly on Corso Italia, walkable to every restaurant, every boutique, the cable car for the Faloria ski area, and the Cortina town hall. Caveats: no swimming pool (this is a boutique in the heart of town, not a resort); the rooftop restaurant gets booked out months in advance (book at booking, not on arrival); and the lower-floor rooms can have street activity until 11pm in high season. But for couples who want the most design-led, most contemporary, and most centrally located Cortina honeymoon at the strongest €/sq-ft value, Hotel de Len is the move. Combine with 2 nights at Forestis or Rosa Alpina for the perfect 5-night Dolomites.

Room Recommendation

Which room to book

Expert Pick
from $490–$2,200/night range

The Deluxe Room (377 sq ft) with the Tofane view is the value-honeymoon move — the larch-and-stone palette, the spacious larch-clad bath, the village + mountain view. For the splurge, the Junior Suite (538 sq ft) with the separate sitting area. Avoid the ground-floor Classic Rooms — they face the street and can have late-night Cortina activity. Request rooms on floors 4 or 5 for the best views and quiet.

Subject: Honeymoon inquiry — Hotel de Len Cortina

Dear Hotel de Len reservations,

We would like to book 4 to 5 nights for our honeymoon [DATES] — interested in a Deluxe Room on the 4th or 5th floor with Tofane view, or a Junior Suite if available.

Questions:
1. Honeymoon arrival amenity (champagne, in-room turndown)?
2. Mercedes transfer from Venice Marco Polo (VCE)?
3. CONFIRMED dinner at SanBrite (the rooftop) one of our nights?
4. Couples treatment at the spa?
5. Quietest floor (away from Corso Italia weekend activity)?
