The Verdict
Worth it for your honeymoon?
Park Hyatt Siem Reap is the rare Angkor hotel that puts you in the middle of the action — a French colonial-style townhouse on a leafy corner of the Old French Quarter, two minutes' walk from the night markets, three from Pub Street, and 15 from the temples by tuk-tuk. The 104-room property was reimagined inside and out by Bill Bensley, the Bangkok-based designer behind some of Asia's most theatrical luxury hotels. The interiors are a love letter to French Indochina: black-and-white tiled lobby, wrought-iron balconies, deep indigo and ochre fabrics, ceiling fans turning slowly, and a museum-quality contemporary Cambodian art collection scattered through the public spaces. Two courtyard pools — one shaded by frangipani for adults-leaning calm, one larger and sunnier — give the property genuine resort credentials despite the urban location. For honeymooners who want temple mornings followed by leisurely walks through markets, candlelit dinners in old shophouses, and rooftop cocktails over the city, Park Hyatt is the most stylish base in Siem Reap.

Room Recommendation
Which room to book
The Park Deluxe Twin Balcony rooms are the honeymoon sweet spot — corner rooms of around 50 square metres with two French wrought-iron balconies overlooking the boulevard, a deep soaking tub set behind louvred shutters, an oversized rain shower, and Bensley's signature mix of teak floors, cream linens, and lacquered Indochinese accents. For an upgrade, the Park Suites add a separate sitting room and a substantial wraparound terrace; one-bedroom Pool Suites have private terraces facing the larger of the two courtyard pools and are the most romantic category in the building.

Day by Day
Your 7-night honeymoon itinerary
Arrival & Old French Quarter Stroll
Land at Siem Reap International, met by a Park Hyatt driver, and arrive within 15 minutes. Welcome cocktail in the airy lobby, then settle into your Park Deluxe room. As the heat softens, walk the Old French Quarter — past Wat Damnak, along the Siem Reap River, and through the night market — before dinner at The Glasshouse with its wood-fired oven and inventive cocktails.
Sunrise at Angkor Wat & Bayon
Pre-dawn departure with a private guide for the iconic Angkor Wat sunrise. Breakfast in a quiet local spot, then continue to Bayon temple inside the walled city of Angkor Thom. Walk the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. Return for a long afternoon nap and a swim in the smaller, shaded courtyard pool.
Ta Prohm & Banteay Srei
Morning at Ta Prohm — silk-cotton trees devouring the temple walls in the 'Tomb Raider' temple. Lunch at a quiet local restaurant, then drive 25km north to Banteay Srei, the miniature pink sandstone 'Citadel of Women' with the most exquisite carvings in the entire Angkor complex. Evening rooftop cocktails at The Living Room as live jazz plays.
Spa Day & Khmer Cooking Class
A full day off the temple trail. Morning in the Park Hyatt spa with a couples massage and a kbal (head) treatment using local herbs. Afternoon Khmer cooking class with the chef — visit the local market for ingredients, then prepare amok trei (coconut fish curry), nom banh chok (rice noodles), and palm sugar dessert. Eat your creations together for an early dinner.
Tonle Sap Floating Villages
Day trip to the floating village of Kompong Khleang — the largest and most authentic of the Tonle Sap stilted communities, far less touristy than the alternatives. Boat through the flooded forest, visit a floating market and pagoda, and lunch with locals on the lake. Return to the Park Hyatt for a swim and a quiet dinner at The Dining Room.
Phnom Kulen & 1000 Lingas
Drive into Phnom Kulen National Park, the sacred mountain where Jayavarman II declared Khmer independence in 802 AD. Walk to the riverbed of the Thousand Lingas — symbolic carvings of fertility worn into the streambed — swim in the waterfall pools, and visit the giant reclining Buddha at the summit. Picnic lunch arranged by the hotel. Sunset cocktails at the rooftop on return.
Spa, Markets & Farewell
A slow morning with breakfast in the courtyard, then a final spa treatment. Lunch shopping at the Old Market — silk scarves, Kampot pepper, palm sugar — followed by afternoon tea at The Living Room. Farewell dinner at the candlelit Glasshouse, then last drinks on the rooftop with the lights of Pub Street twinkling in the distance.
Honest Assessment
What to know before you book
March through May is brutally hot in Siem Reap, often pushing 40°C — the courtyard pools become daytime sanctuaries, and temple touring is best confined to dawn and dusk.
Monsoon season runs June through October; afternoon thunderstorms are intense but brief and the temples take on a moody, atmospheric green.
The Angkor Archaeological Park pass is tiered (1-day, 3-day, 7-day) and must be bought at the official ticket office with a passport photo — separate from the hotel.
Temples enforce a strict dress code: shoulders and knees covered for both men and women. Pack a light scarf and breathable long trousers.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Good for honeymooners?
Park Hyatt Siem Reap suits honeymooners who want city texture alongside temple time. Bensley's design is genuinely romantic — candlelit lobbies, wrought-iron balconies, and an art-filled atmosphere that feels like 1920s Indochina. The downside is that it sits in town rather than countryside, so it lacks the rural seclusion of Phum Baitang or the village scale of Amansara, but its walking-distance access to dining and markets is unmatched in Siem Reap.
How many days do we need at Angkor?
Three days of focused temple visits is ideal — enough to cover Angkor Wat at sunrise, Bayon and Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm, Banteay Srei and Preah Khan without burning out. The 3-day pass is valid across a 10-day window, so honeymooners can space the temple days with spa days, floating villages, and Phnom Kulen.
Do we need a visa?
Most nationalities can get a Cambodian e-visa online before travel or a visa on arrival at Siem Reap International for around USD 30. Bring a passport photo and USD cash. Your passport must be valid for six months beyond entry. Always reconfirm with your country's foreign ministry before flying.
Best time to visit?
November through February is dry season with cooler temperatures and clear skies — peak Angkor weather and the busiest tourism months. March to May is hot and dry. June to October is the green monsoon season with shorter, intense rains, lush rice paddies around the temples, and significantly lower hotel rates.
Is it walking distance to Pub Street?
Yes — Park Hyatt Siem Reap sits at the corner of Sivutha Boulevard and Sok San Road in the Old French Quarter. It is a 2 to 3 minute walk to the Old Market, the night markets, and Pub Street, and a 5 to 10 minute walk to most of the town's best independent restaurants. Tuk-tuks to the temple gates take 15 to 20 minutes.
Currency — do they take US dollars?
US dollars are the de facto currency across Cambodia. The hotel, restaurants, tuk-tuks, temple ticket office, and most shops all price in USD. Bring clean, undamaged small bills (1s, 5s, 10s, 20s). Cambodian riel is used for change under a dollar. Major credit cards work at the Park Hyatt and upscale restaurants but rarely at street level.
