The Verdict

Worth it for your honeymoon?

Salterra is the most remote luxury honeymoon option in Turks & Caicos, and that remoteness is the entire point. South Caicos is a different island — a short domestic flight from Providenciales — and it has remained largely untouched by development. The Luxury Collection brand brings genuine service standards and design quality to an island that otherwise sees very few tourists. The reef system surrounding South Caicos is pristine precisely because it is not dived constantly: visibility is staggering, coral health is exceptional, and you will share dive sites with no one. The butler service creates a genuinely personalised experience. Best for couples who are serious about diving or snorkeling, crave true remoteness, and have done the Grace Bay circuit before. Not the right choice if you want restaurants, nightlife, or easy transport options beyond the resort.

Best for couples who…
  • Prioritise spa & wellness
  • Want direct beach access
Skip if you…
  • Need a strictly adults-only resort
  • Prefer boutique & intimate properties

Room Recommendation

Which room to book

Expert Pick
from $400–$1,200/night range

Book an oceanfront suite with butler service — the suites facing the Caribbean have the most striking views and the butler inclusion makes a significant difference in daily quality. Request a room facing southeast for morning light over the water. The resort is intimate enough that the butler team genuinely gets to know you by day two; brief them early on what matters most for your honeymoon.

Day by Day

Your 7-night honeymoon itinerary

1

Domestic Flight & Island Arrival

Fly from Providenciales (PLS) on a short domestic hop to South Caicos — the flight takes under 20 minutes and the aerial view of the turquoise Caicos Bank below is extraordinary. Transfer directly to Salterra. The arrival experience is deliberately quiet and unhurried; there are no queues, no crowds, no lobby chaos. Butler service begins immediately. First evening: in-suite dinner watching the sunset over the reef.

2

Introduction Dive & Reef Orientation

The reef system around South Caicos is the reason to be here. Book a guided two-tank dive for the morning — the in-house dive team knows these sites intimately and will tailor the dive to your certification level. The coral is noticeably healthier than around Providenciales; pristine staghorn, brain coral formations, and an exceptional density of fish. Non-divers can snorkel the same reef system directly from the beach.

3

Spa Day & Deserted Beach Picnic

South Caicos has stretches of beach that see almost no visitors — your butler can arrange a private beach picnic transport to one of the uninhabited beaches on the island's south coast. Morning: couples spa treatment at Salterra, where the treatment rooms overlook undisturbed ocean and the therapists are unhurried in a way urban spas never manage. Afternoon: private beach, champagne, and total silence.

4

Wall Diving & Sunset Sailing

South Caicos sits at the edge of the Caicos Bank, and the wall dives here rival anything in the Caribbean — dramatic drop-offs beginning at 15 metres, large pelagic fish (sharks, rays, barracuda), and coral formations that take your breath away. Book the wall dive program for the morning. Evening: arrange a private sailing excursion at sunset through the resort; the protected sound on the island's lee side turns pink and gold at dusk.

5

Village Exploration & Lobster Dinner

South Caicos town is a small, working fishing community — the lobster comes off the boats daily and the fishing culture is genuine. Walk the village with your butler as informal guide, visit the small local market, and see the salt pond that gives the island its character. Pre-arrange with the resort kitchen to have a freshly caught lobster prepared for your private dinner that evening — it is the best meal on the island.

6

Yoga, Kayaking & Hammock Day

A rest day after three days of diving and activity. Morning yoga with the resort's instructor on the beach — classes are often just two guests given the intimate scale. Mid-morning kayak along the protected coastline. The afternoon is for hammocks, a good book, and the kind of genuine decompression that only comes from being unreachable. No better place for it in the Caribbean.

7

Final Dive or Snorkel & Departure

One final morning dive or snorkel on the house reef — go early when the sea is glassiest and the light comes from a low angle through the water. Late breakfast with the butler. The domestic flight back to Providenciales connects to most international departures. Allow at least 2–3 hours at PLS for international connections as security queues can extend in peak season.

Honest Assessment

What to know before you book

!

South Caicos requires a domestic connecting flight from Providenciales — budget an additional $80–$150 per person each way and build significant buffer time into your international departure; missed connections happen

!

The island has very little beyond the resort — no restaurant scene, no nightlife, no shopping; couples who need off-property options will feel constrained by night 4 or 5

!

The Luxury Collection brand carries expectations that can occasionally outpace delivery in remote locations; maintenance and staffing consistency have received mixed reviews compared to properties in major hubs

!

South Caicos is not on the Turks & Caicos tourist trail — if you have not visited the islands before, seeing the celebrated Grace Bay Beach experience first makes sense before seeking this level of remoteness

Subject: Honeymoon Booking — [Your Names] — [Check-in Date]

Dear Salterra Reservations and Butler Team,

My partner and I will be honeymooning at Salterra from [check-in date] to [check-out date] (Booking reference: [reference number]).

Two room requests:
1. We would love an oceanfront suite with a southeast-facing orientation for morning light if available within our booking category
2. We would appreciate being introduced to our butler team as early as possible on arrival day to brief them on our honeymoon priorities

Special request: we would like to arrange a private beach picnic on one of the deserted south-coast beaches during our stay — ideally on day 3 or 4 — and a private lobster dinner in our suite on one of the later evenings. We'd appreciate your team's input on the best timing.

This is our honeymoon and we are excited about the remoteness and dive program above all else.

Thank you,

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Salterra good for a honeymoon?

Exceptional for the right couple. If you are serious divers, crave genuine remoteness, and have done the Grace Bay resorts before, Salterra offers something genuinely different — pristine reef, butler service, and almost no one else around. It is a poor fit if you want restaurant variety, nightlife, or easy transport options.

Best room type for honeymooners?

An oceanfront suite with the butler service inclusion. Request a southeast-facing orientation for morning light over the water. Brief the butler team on day one about your honeymoon priorities — the resort is intimate enough that personalised service at this level is genuinely achievable here in a way larger resorts cannot match.

When is best time to visit Turks and Caicos?

December through April for the dry season and clearest dive visibility. For South Caicos specifically, March and April can be excellent — the tourist season is winding down on Provo so the domestic flights are less congested. Avoid August through October for hurricane season. The remoteness of South Caicos means conditions can change faster than on Provo.

How do you get to Salterra?

Fly into Providenciales (PLS) on a direct international flight, then connect on a short 20-minute domestic hop to South Caicos Airport. The resort arranges the transfer from South Caicos Airport to Salterra. Build at least a 3-hour buffer at PLS when connecting internationally on the return — the domestic leg can have delays.

What is the diving/snorkeling like?

Among the best in the entire Caribbean. The reef around South Caicos is pristine — rarely dived compared to Providenciales, with exceptional coral health and visibility regularly hitting 30–40 metres. Wall dives at the edge of the Caicos Bank feature large pelagics and dramatic topography. Non-divers can snorkel the same system and see extraordinary marine life.

Insider honeymoon tip?

Pre-arrange the lobster dinner through your butler before you arrive — the kitchen sources from the fishing boats but availability is not guaranteed day-of. Tell them when you want it and they will make it happen. It is the best meal in Turks & Caicos for the money, eaten in your suite with the ocean outside, and it is the memory that defines the trip.
