Blue Palace is the Luxury Collection Marriott property at the northern end of the Elounda cluster — a cliffside resort terraced down the headland directly facing the islet of Spinalonga, with the closest and most direct fortress-island view of any hotel in the bay. The 251-key property is built almost entirely as standalone bungalows rather than a hotel block, with the signature unit being the Island Bungalow with Private Heated Pool — a series of 80 sea-front cottages stepping down the cliff, each with a 7m private pool angled to the Spinalonga view. The architecture is more traditional Cretan than the design-forward Daios or the contemporary Domes; the atmosphere is slightly older and quieter; the food programme is excellent (Blue Door for fine Cretan cuisine, Anthos for Mediterranean, Flama for grilled meat under the stars). The reason couples choose Blue Palace is the bungalow density — almost every room has a pool and a sea view, so the lottery of room assignment is essentially solved.
