Daios Cove sits 15 minutes south of Elounda in its own private cove at Vathi — a 300-key amphitheatre of cliffside suites and pool villas wrapped around a horseshoe bay that is essentially private to the hotel, accessed only by the resort road. The cove itself is the unique selling point in the Elounda area: a 400m crescent of grey-and-gold sand with calm clear water, full watersports operation (the only one in the cluster), a beach club at sea level, and a marina that operates daily yacht charters. The architecture is a stepped white cascade down the cliff with a glass funicular linking the levels — visually the most dramatic of the Mirabello cluster, and the pool villas with direct sea views are the strongest honeymoon rooms in east Crete. The reason couples pick Daios over Domes of Elounda is the private bay and the watersports; the reason they pick Domes is the adults-only Haven section.

Daios Cove is family-friendly — there is no adults-only zone equivalent to Domes' Haven, and the main pool and Ocean restaurant have children at lunchtime in August. Honeymooners should book a Villa to retreat to between meals.
The cliffside geography requires the funicular and many stairs — every walk to and from the beach is a climb. The funicular runs continuously but slow.
Rates are not all-inclusive at the standard board level — meal supplements add €120–€180 per couple per night at the better restaurants.
