Cala di Volpe is the founding legend of the Costa Smeralda — the pink-stuccoed, tower-studded village the Aga Khan commissioned in 1963 that still dictates what Italian summer luxury looks like. For a honeymoon it is theatrical in the best sense: you eat pasta alla bottarga next to film producers on the Barbecue terrace, float in the 42m seawater pool carved into the hillside, and sleep in rooms where hand-painted headboards and terracotta floors feel both rustic and absurdly expensive. It is not the quietest hotel in Sardinia, nor the cheapest — but for couples who want to be at the center of Costa Smeralda's social universe, nothing else on the island matches its magnetism.
