Royal Palm Galapagos, Curio Collection by Hilton
galapagos, ecuador · ★★★★★
Le verdict
Cela vaut-il le coup pour votre voyage de noces ?
Royal Palm is the most spacious land-based property in Galápagos — a 460-acre estate of forest and farmland in the Santa Cruz highlands with just 23 stand-alone villas, panoramic ocean views from elevation, and the calm of a private nature reserve. Now operated under Hilton's Curio Collection, the lodge has been refreshed without losing the eccentric ranch-house atmosphere that long made it a favourite of repeat Galápagos travellers. Honeymooners come here for privacy that no Puerto Ayora hotel can match — your villa has its own terrace looking down at the Pacific, you might pass three giant tortoises on the walk to dinner, and the days settle into a rhythm of guided wildlife mornings and slow farm-to-table afternoons. It is less polished than Pikaia and less beachy than Finch Bay, but unmatched on space-per-guest and the feeling of having Santa Cruz to yourselves.

Recommandation de chambre
Quelle chambre réserver
Book a Villa Suite for the corner-window panoramic view across the property's pasture down to the ocean — the Hilton refresh added the freshest linens and bathrooms in this category. The Royal Suite is the most generous, with two bedrooms, a private plunge pool, and a wraparound veranda; ideal for honeymooners who want a small private compound for a week.

Itinéraire de 7 nuits pour votre voyage de noces
Quito Arrival
Land in Quito (UIO) and overnight in the colonial centre. Hilton partners arrange a private city tour — La Compañía church, the equator monument, and a hacienda dinner — to acclimatise to altitude and time zone.
Fly to Galápagos & Estate Walk
Morning flight to Baltra. Park entry $200 per person processed at the airport. Royal Palm transfer up into the Santa Cruz highlands, welcome lunch at the main lodge, and a slow afternoon walk through the farm and forest with a naturalist guide spotting wild tortoises.
Charles Darwin & Tortuga Bay
A drive down to Puerto Ayora for the Charles Darwin Research Station and the long walk into Tortuga Bay — white-sand beach, marine iguanas, reef sharks. Return up to the highlands for sundowners on the terrace.
Day Cruise — Bartolomé
Royal Palm partners with several day-cruise yachts; today is a Bartolomé itinerary — the iconic Pinnacle Rock viewpoint, a hike to the volcanic panorama, and snorkeling with Galápagos penguins. Champagne on the return crossing.
Day Cruise — North Seymour
Second cruise day — North Seymour Island for the densest seabird colonies in central Galápagos. Blue-footed boobies in courtship, magnificent frigatebirds, sea lions on the beach landing. Lunch onboard.
Highlands & Lava Tunnels
A slower day on Santa Cruz — guided lava-tunnel walk, scalesia forest hike, and a long farm-table lunch using produce from the estate's gardens. Couples' massage at the spa pavilion and a quiet villa-terrace dinner.
Farewell & Return
Final breakfast on the lodge terrace, last walk through the forest, and Royal Palm transfer to Baltra for the afternoon flight back to mainland Ecuador.
Évaluation honnête
Ce qu'il faut savoir avant de réserver
Galápagos National Park entry is $200 per person plus a $20 INGALA transit card — pay in cash at Baltra and keep the receipts.
Royal Palm is in the highlands, not on the coast — beach access requires a 25-minute drive each way to Tortuga Bay or the Puerto Ayora docks.
December–May is warm and wet; June–November is cool and dry. The highlands run cooler year-round than Puerto Ayora — pack a light fleece even in summer.
Day cruises are operated by partner yachts and itineraries rotate by season — confirm which islands fall on your travel dates before flying down.
All wildlife trails inside park boundaries require a certified naturalist guide; the estate's own private trails do not.

FAQ
Questions fréquentes
Is Royal Palm good for a honeymoon?
Yes — for couples who prioritise privacy, space, and a working-estate atmosphere over beachfront or design polish. The free-standing villas, 460-acre grounds, and quiet highland setting make it the most secluded option on Santa Cruz.
How does it compare to Pikaia and Finch Bay?
Pikaia has the strongest design and a private yacht; Finch Bay has the only beach; Royal Palm has the largest grounds, the most space per guest, and the lowest entry price among Santa Cruz luxury lodges. The Curio refresh has tightened service to Hilton standards.
Will we see giant tortoises and seabirds?
Tortoises on the property are essentially guaranteed — the estate borders a wild-tortoise zone. Seabirds (boobies, frigatebirds) are seen on partner day cruises to North Seymour or South Plaza. Marine iguanas and sea lions appear on Tortuga Bay walks.
What's the best time to visit?
December–May is the warmer wet season with calmer seas; June–November is the cool dry season with richer wildlife concentrations. The highlands microclimate is mistier than the coast, which keeps the forest lush year-round.
Are excursions included?
Royal Palm sells flexible rates — the lodge restaurant and estate walks are included; partner day cruises and certified-guide land excursions are usually billed separately. Confirm exact inclusions when booking.
How do we get there?
Fly Quito or Guayaquil to Baltra (GPS, 2 hours). Royal Palm arranges the Itabaca Channel ferry and a 35-minute drive up to the highlands estate. Total transfer is about 1 hour 30 minutes from Baltra arrivals.
