The Verdict

Worth it for your honeymoon?

7Pines is the newer, design-led alternative to the grand old Costa Smeralda hotels — a 76-suite clifftop resort in Baja Sardinia that opened in 2020 and has quickly become the honeymoon darling of couples who find Cala di Volpe too formal. Every suite has a private terrace facing La Maddalena archipelago, the 40-meter infinity pool is one of the most cinematic on the island, and La Prima restaurant has made a serious play for Michelin attention. It is a short drive from the pink-sand beaches and Phi Beach, but the resort itself is where you will want to linger: this is the Sardinia hotel for couples who want design, great food, and an Instagram-perfect pool instead of old-money nostalgia.

Room Recommendation

Which room to book

Expert Pick
from $800–$2,500/night range

A Premium Suite Sea View with private plunge pool is the honeymoon winner — generous terrace, unobstructed archipelago view, and direct sunset exposure. For a splurge, the Cliff Villa with private garden pool is the room-of-rooms; for first-time Sardinia visitors, the Junior Suite Sea View offers great value.

Day by Day

Your 7-night honeymoon itinerary

1

Arrival and infinity-pool sunset

Transfer from Olbia Costa Smeralda in about 45 minutes. Suite check-in, sparkling welcome on your terrace, and a first drink at the infinity pool bar as the sun drops behind the archipelago. Dinner at Cone Club.

2

Beach shuttle and long La Prima lunch

Shuttle to the resort's partner beach club in Baja Sardinia for a morning on the sand. Back up the hill for a tasting lunch at La Prima, the hotel's signature restaurant. Spa afternoon, then a quiet terrace dinner.

3

Private boat to La Maddalena

Charter through the concierge. Day on the water around Spargi, Budelli, and Santa Maria, anchored at Cala Corsara for the famous turquoise shallows. Dinner in-suite served on the terrace.

4

Phi Beach sunset ritual

Lazy morning at the infinity pool, pizza lunch at Cone Club, late afternoon drive (15 min) to Phi Beach for cocktails in the rock amphitheater and sunset into full-DJ night.

5

Porto Cervo and Pevero Bay

Drive 20 minutes to Porto Cervo, wander the piazzetta, lunch at Nikki Beach or Il Pescatore, afternoon at Spiaggia del Principe. Back to 7Pines for a quieter night.

6

Gallura wine country

Escape inland for a Vermentino tasting at Cantina Surrau or Siddùra, lunch at a cork-oak farm. Return for a spa couple's treatment and a last pool sunset.

7

Slow departure

Late breakfast on the terrace, a final swim, and the car to Olbia. Many couples add two nights in Alghero for a complete Sardinian arc.

Honest Assessment

What to know before you book

!

The resort sits on a cliff — the beach is a short shuttle away, not directly below. Couples expecting sand-at-the-door should know this upfront.

!

Open seasonally (roughly May through October). No winter operation.

!

The newest of the big Sardinia resorts, so service polish is still catching up to the Luxury Collection veterans at busy moments.

Hello,

We are planning our honeymoon for [DATES] and would love to stay 6 to 7 nights at 7Pines. Could you please send best-available rates for a Premium Suite Sea View with plunge pool, and any available upgrades?

A few questions:
1. Do you have a honeymoon package (champagne on arrival, private dinner, spa credit)?
2. Can we guarantee a table at La Prima for our first evening?
3. Is a private boat charter arrangeable through the concierge, and roughly what is the day rate?
4. What are your earliest check-in and latest checkout options?

Thank you,

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is there a beach at the hotel?

No direct beach access — the cliff drops straight to sea. A complimentary shuttle runs to a partner beach club in Baja Sardinia and to other nearby coves.

How is it different from the Luxury Collection Costa Smeralda hotels?

7Pines is newer, more design-forward, smaller in headcount on the pool, and more food-driven. Cala di Volpe and Pitrizza have more tradition, more history, and beach/seawater pools rather than an infinity edge.

Is La Prima worth the hype?

Yes — the tasting menu is one of the most ambitious on the island and the setting at sunset is hard to beat. Book on arrival for your second or third night.

Is it adults-only?

No, but the vibe is overwhelmingly couples and the pool/restaurant layout skews adult. Families with young children tend to pick Romazzino or Forte Village instead.

Do we need a car?

Helpful for flexibility — the hotel shuttle covers nearby beaches and Porto Cervo, but a car lets you reach Spiaggia del Principe, Capriccioli, and inland Gallura on your own schedule.

When is the best time to go?

June and September are ideal — warm sea, long light, and 30 to 40 percent lower rates than peak August.
