The Verdict

Worth it for your honeymoon?

Pearl Beach is the boutique, adults-skewing option among Bora Bora's five-star motu resorts — 50 bungalows instead of 100+, which completely changes the vibe. Set on Motu Tevairoa on the northern edge of the lagoon, it has a long soft-sand beach facing Mount Otemanu and one of the most consistent sunset views on the island. The overwater bungalows are the classic thatched-roof Polynesian design, each with a private deck, glass floor panel and a lagoon ladder; interiors feel warmer and more authentically Polynesian than the chain hotels. The Manea Spa (literally 'massage' in Tahitian) is the most-awarded spa on the island and the couples' cabana over the water is what honeymoons are made of. The resort skews heavily couples — you will not find the kids-club energy of Conrad or Hilton here, even though it is technically not adults-only. Dining at Tevairoa (French) and Tipanié (Polynesian-international) is reliably good without being a headline attraction. Service is the standout — small-resort attention where staff remember your names by night two. Ideal for couples who want proper luxury and the full motu-island fantasy but do not want to feel like one of 200 couples in a large resort.

Best for couples who…
  • Trust couples-verified reviews
  • Prioritise spa & wellness
  • Want direct beach access
  • Dream of overwater villas
  • Are willing to invest in once-in-a-lifetime
Skip if you…
  • Need a strictly adults-only resort
  • Prefer boutique & intimate properties

Room Recommendation

Which room to book

Expert Pick
from $700–$2,500/night range

The End-of-Pontoon Overwater Bungalow is the room to book — farthest from the motu, deepest water under the deck, cleanest Otemanu view. Ask specifically for the sunset side. The Beach Suite Bungalow with private pool is an excellent alternative for couples who prefer privacy and want to mix beachfront with overwater (consider splitting the stay: 3 nights beach, 4 nights overwater).

Honest Assessment

What to know before you book

!

The resort has a smaller main pool than Hilton or Conrad — not a property to choose for pool days.

!

Some older overwater bungalows are scheduled for refresh; ask about renovated vs. original when booking.

!

Food pricing is aggressive even for Bora Bora; the half-board plan is worth it.

!

Reef shoes recommended for the beach swim area — some coral rubble.

!

Kids are allowed but rarely present; do not expect a kids' club.

!

Transfers are extra (~$200 per couple).
