The Verdict

Worth it for your honeymoon?

The Loren at Pink Beach is the only design-led modern hotel on Bermuda — a 45-key boutique cliffside property that opened in 2017 on the site of the legendary 1947 Pink Beach Club, perched on the south-shore cliffs above its own private crescent of pink sand. Where every other hotel on the island leans Bermudian-traditional (pastel cottages, white-stepped roofs, colonial restraint), the Loren is contemporary minimal — clean lines, palettes of cream and bone and sand, locally quarried limestone, ocean-view rooms with floor-to-ceiling glass. The scale is honeymoon-perfect: 45 rooms, two pools (one infinity, ocean-edge), a small but excellent spa, two restaurants (Marée for fine dining, Pink Beach Club for casual), and the most romantic private beach on the island, tucked under the limestone cliffs and accessed by a switchback path. Service skews young, attentive and genuinely warm. For honeymooners who want pink sand at their doorstep, design-forward rooms, and the boutique scale that the Princess and Rosewood can't offer, this is the island's most romantic address.

Room Recommendation

Which room to book

Expert Pick
from $700–$4,000/night range

Ocean View King Suites are the honeymoon entry — corner positioning, wraparound floor-to-ceiling glass, private terrace looking directly down to the beach and the south shore. For the splurge, the Pink Beach Cottage is a freestanding two-bedroom (rent as a one-bedroom honeymoon for the extra space) on the cliff edge with its own plunge pool and the most direct beach access on the property.

Day by Day

Your 7-night honeymoon itinerary

1

Arrival & Sunset on the Cliffs

Fly into BDA (2h from JFK), 30-minute taxi to the south shore. Welcome cocktail at the cliffside bar at sunset — the south-facing position means an open Atlantic horizon for sundowners. Casual first-night dinner at Pink Beach Club on the lower terrace.

2

Private Pink Sand Day

Down the switchback to the private beach for the day — kayaks, paddleboards, the resort's beach service. Lunch on the sand from Pink Beach Club. Late afternoon couple's massage at the spa, dinner at Marée (modern coastal, the best wine list outside the Princess).

3

Horseshoe Bay & Connecting Trail

Scooter ten minutes west to Horseshoe Bay. Walk the south shore connecting trail east through Jobson, Stonehole, and Warwick Long Bay back toward the resort. Lunch en route at Whitlow's or back at the Loren. Sunset on your private terrace.

4

Hamilton Day Trip

Scooter or take a taxi 15 minutes into Hamilton for a day in the capital — Front Street, the Bermuda National Gallery, lunch at the Hamilton Princess's Pickled Onion. Drinks at the 1609 bar overlooking the marina. Return to the Loren for dinner at Marée.

5

Crystal Caves & East End

Half-day scooter run east to the Crystal & Fantasy Caves (book the 11am tour). Drive on to St George's, walking the UNESCO old town. Lunch at Tempest Bistro. Return via Tom Moore's Jungle for an afternoon walk. Casual dinner at Pink Beach Club.

6

Sailing & Final Romance

Morning sailing charter from Hamilton harbour (the Loren arranges the booking) — two hours in the Great Sound with champagne. Afternoon at the infinity pool. Final dinner at Marée, the chef's tasting menu with wine pairing — the splurge that justifies the whole trip.

7

Beach Morning & Departure

A final hour on the private beach, breakfast on the terrace, and the 20-minute taxi to BDA. The Loren is close enough to the airport that late mornings are possible without panic.

Honest Assessment

What to know before you book

!

The private beach is a small protected cove at the base of the cliffs — beautiful and private, but smaller than the great public south-shore beaches; Horseshoe Bay is a 10-minute scooter for the longer-sand experience.

!

The 45-room scale means the spa, restaurants and pools have limited capacity — book treatments and dinner at Marée before arrival to avoid disappointment.

!

Peak summer (June-August) rates push $1,500-2,000 in entry categories; the value windows are May, late September, and early October.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Good for honeymooners?

Yes — the Loren is the most romantic hotel on Bermuda. The 45-room boutique scale, design-forward rooms, private pink-sand beach, and excellent food and spa make it the canonical Bermuda honeymoon address.

Best time to visit?

May, June, September and October are the sweet spots — sea warm enough to swim, smaller crowds, better value than peak July-August. The Loren is fully open year-round but the design-forward outdoor spaces shine in warm weather.

Book in advance?

Ocean View suites book 3-4 months ahead for peak summer; the Pink Beach Cottage books 6-8 months ahead for honeymoon dates. Off-season (May, October) is 4-6 weeks.

Adults-only?

No, the Loren is technically family-friendly, but in practice the design-forward aesthetic, lack of kids' club, and adult restaurants make it overwhelmingly a couples and honeymoon hotel. Children are rare.

Best room type?

Ocean View King Suite for the honeymoon entry — corner positioning, wraparound glass, terrace overlooking the beach. The Pink Beach Cottage for the once-in-a-lifetime splurge — plunge pool and direct beach access.

How to get there?

BDA airport is a 20-minute taxi ($40-50) to the south shore. Direct flights from JFK, Newark, Boston, Toronto, Philadelphia, and London Gatwick. The Loren arranges complimentary transfers in some packages.
