Worth it for your honeymoon?
Vila Vita Parc is the greatest resort estate in southern Iberia — 54 acres of clifftop gardens, sub-tropical paths and discrete villas on the Praia dos Tres Irmãos in Porches, central Algarve. It is family-owned (the Aurora-Vita Group), and has been progressively built and refined over forty years into one of the great European resort properties. Eleven restaurants and bars on-site, including the two-Michelin-starred Ocean (chef Hans Neuner, since 2011) and one-Michelin-starred Mizu Asian. The Sisley Spa is among the best in Iberia. The beach (accessed by elevator down the cliff) is private and the cliff-top pool is among the most photographed in Europe. Vila Vita owns a working winery (Herdade dos Grous in the Alentejo) and the wine list reflects it. Caveats: at 170 rooms it is large — the Premium and Garden Junior Suites are pleasant but lack the honeymoon distinction of the Oceanfront Villas. The cliff-edge swim takes elevator-down access. Best for honeymooners who want the genuinely complete European luxury resort with Michelin food, perfect spa, and serious oceanfront — at half the Côte d'Azur price.
