Brosundet is the romantic harbour hotel in art-nouveau Ålesund — 47 rooms in a converted 1905 warehouse on the canal, with a couple of cult signature rooms that nobody else in Norway can match. Room 47 is the Molja Lighthouse Suite at the end of the pier (literally a working lighthouse with a bed in it) and the Voldsund fishing-boat suite floats in the harbour. For a honeymoon it is the perfect Sunnmøre coast base: walking distance to every art-nouveau facade in town and ten minutes from the Hjørundfjord ferries.

Arrival in Ålesund
Fly into Ålesund Vigra (AES) and take the 25-minute transfer to Brosundet. Check into your harbour room or the lighthouse suite, walk the canal-side and toast the trip with a cocktail at the hotel's Apotekergata No. 5 bar.
Art-nouveau walking tour
Spend the morning on the Jugendstil walking trail — Ålesund was rebuilt entirely in art nouveau after the 1904 fire, the largest concentration in northern Europe. Climb the 418 steps up Aksla viewpoint, lunch at Maki and an afternoon coffee in town.
Hjørundfjord cruise
Board a small RIB or classic boat tour into the Hjørundfjord, the most beautiful side fjord in Sunnmøre. Picnic on board, swim in summer, and back for an in-room dinner with king crab from the local boats.
Atlantic Road drive
