Philippe Starck dressed this 91-room beachfront tower in 1960s Brazilian-modernist references — rosewood, leather, brass, slatted screens — and the result is the most quietly seductive luxury hotel on Ipanema. The rooftop infinity pool is the room everyone talks about: it floats over Avenida Vieira Souto with the Two Brothers and Sugarloaf rising from the Atlantic, and it is photographed almost every honeymoon week of the year.
