Fernando de Noronha is the hardest honeymoon in Brazil to organise — and the most rewarding. The 21-island volcanic archipelago, 350 km off the northeast coast, is a UNESCO Marine World Heritage site. Brazil caps tourism at around 460 visitors per day, charges a daily environmental tax, and as a result preserves the most pristine warm-water marine environment in the South Atlantic. Pousada Maravilha is the island's defining luxury address: just eight clifftop cabins and five additional apartments perched above Sueste Bay, each with a private deck and floor-to-ceiling sliders facing the famous Pôr do Sol (sunset) view over Morro do Pico. The 25-metre infinity pool runs along the cliff edge; spinner dolphins routinely swim past at breakfast; and snorkelling at Baía do Sancho — voted the world's best beach by TripAdvisor multiple years running — is a 15-minute ride away. The pousada is small, intimate, design-forward and very, very Brazilian. Book a Bangalô (clifftop cabin) — there are only eight and they are why people fly to Noronha. Each has a private deck with hammock, an open bath aligned to the view, and the unobstructed Pôr do Sol panorama. The five Vista Mar apartments are lovely but a step down from the cabins.

Arrival and orientation
Fly from Recife or Natal (about 1 hour). Pay the environmental fee, transfer to Pousada Maravilha, settle into your bangalô, sunset on the deck with a caipirinha.
Praia do Sancho
Down the famous staircase through the volcanic rocks to Baía do Sancho, snorkel with reef sharks, sea turtles and rays. Lunch at Mergulhão back on the main beach side. Spa treatment at the pousada in the afternoon.
Boat tour around the island
Half-day Atlantic boat tour with the resident spinner dolphin pods at Baía dos Golfinhos. Afternoon at Praia do Cachorro, dinner at the pousada's restaurant facing the sunset.
Diving day
Two-tank dive at Pedras Secas or Buraco das Cabras — among the best warm-water diving in the South Atlantic. Beginners can do a discovery dive instead. Sunset at Mirante do Boldró.
Praia do Leão and turtles
Visit Praia do Leão on the Mar de Fora (outer sea) side — protected sea turtle nesting beach. Afternoon Tamar Project visit to learn about turtle conservation. Dinner at Restaurante do Eduardo for fresh fish.
Jeep tour and Atalaia
Guided jeep tour to the Atalaia natural pool (timed-entry permit required). Snorkel in the tide pool. Lunch at Xica da Silva. Sunset cocktails on the pousada deck.
Slow last day
Final swim at Baía do Sueste with the resident sea turtles, brunch on the deck, last sunset before the morning flight back to the mainland.

Access is the project — connect through Recife (REC) or Natal (NAT) onwards on Azul or Gol. Daily tourist cap means flights book months ahead.
Daily environmental tax (TPA) and Marine Park entry fee are mandatory and not cheap — budget around USD 25–30 per day per person.
There is no large luxury infrastructure on the island — Pousada Maravilha is as polished as it gets, but expect island-scale operations rather than resort-scale.
Some beaches require permits and timed entries (Atalaia in particular). Plan with the pousada in advance.
Wet season is February–July with heavier rain; the dry season (August–January) has the calmest sea for the Mar de Dentro side.

How do we get to Fernando de Noronha?
Fly to Recife (REC) or Natal (NAT) and connect onward — about 1 hour to Noronha (FEN). Both Azul and Gol fly the route. Book early; the daily tourist cap means flights and pousadas sell out months ahead.
How long should we stay?
Five nights minimum, seven is ideal. The island is small but the diving, snorkelling and beach circuit needs time, and weather affects which beaches are calm on which days.
Is Pousada Maravilha really the best on the island?
Along with Nannai Noronha, it is the island's only true luxury option, and Maravilha's clifftop cabins and infinity pool are the defining property. Most honeymooners pick Maravilha.
Will we actually see dolphins?
Yes — spinner dolphins are resident at Baía dos Golfinhos and frequently visible from the pousada's deck and pool at dawn.
Do we need to dive?
No — snorkelling at Sancho, Sueste and Atalaia is exceptional. But certified divers will find the diving the best in Brazil and among the best in the South Atlantic.
When is the best time?
September to January is the sweet spot — calm seas on the Mar de Dentro side, clearest visibility, dry weather. December and January are peak; September–October is quieter and excellent.
