The Verdict
Worth it for your honeymoon?
Hotel Quisisana is the historic grande dame of Capri Town — opened in 1845 by an English doctor as a sanatorium (the name “Qui si sana” means “here one heals”), converted to a hotel in the late 19th century, and run by the Morgano family since 1928 across three generations. One hundred and fourteen rooms make it the largest of the great Capri honeymoon hotels (it is also, by some distance, the most socially energetic — the Krug Bar on the via Camerelle entrance is the buzziest hotel bar on the island and the place a Capri evening genuinely begins). The location is the genuine selling point: the Quisisana faces directly onto via Camerelle, the great shopping street, with the Piazzetta a 90-second walk in one direction and the Belvedere di Tragara 8 minutes in the other. The amenity offer is full: two swimming pools (one large outdoor, one heated indoor), a 3,000 sqm spa with hammam and saunas, two restaurants (Rendezvous on the garden terrace serving Mediterranean classics, Quisi as the fine-dining option), the famous Krug Bar, and three tennis courts. The interiors are unapologetically Belle Époque — Murano chandeliers, marble floors, gilded mirrors, and the kind of formal hotel choreography that has not changed in a century. The honeymoon move is one of the Royal Penthouse Suites on the top floor with private terraces overlooking the island, or one of the historic Belle Époque suites in the original 1845 building. The defining moment: 7pm at the Krug Bar with the via Camerelle shoppers passing outside, a glass of Champagne in hand, and the Capri Town crowd arriving in turn for the evening passeggiata. Caveats: at 114 rooms the Quisisana is the largest of the great Capri hotels — it feels more like a grand-historic-hotel than an intimate Capri boutique; the Belle Époque formality is not to every contemporary taste (the J.K. Place’s clean design is the immediate alternative); and the via Camerelle position means street noise in the lower-floor front rooms until late. But for honeymooners who want the most socially energetic of the great Capri hotels, the buzziest bar, and a direct Piazzetta address with all the historic grandeur, the Quisisana is the canonical choice.

Room Recommendation
Which room to book
A Royal Penthouse Suite on the top floor with private terrace and panoramic island view. For the historic experience, a Belle Époque Suite in the original 1845 building. Avoid the lower-floor front rooms facing via Camerelle — Belle Époque interiors but street noise until midnight.
